Current-induced domain wall motion in a nanowire with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

We study theoretically the current-induced magnetic domain wall motion in a metallic nanowire with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. The anisotropy can reduce the critical current density of the domain wall motion. We explain the reduction mechanism and identify the maximal reduction conditions. This result facilitates both fundamental studies and device applications of the current- induced domain wall motion

Department of PhysicsThe rapid increase of the computing power and the development of the e???cient machine learning techniques in recent days allow us to apply the machine learning to various ???eld of researches. The machine learning techniques become e???ective solutions to the ???elds which are not well described by one integrated theory. The physics for the super cooled glassy liquid system is one such ???eld. The prediction of local dynamics based on the local structural information is longstanding problem in glass physics. The latest researches reveal that the local dynamics is actually predictable by utilizing the support vector machine (SVM) and the local structural information. In this thesis, I reproduce the result of the former researches which utilize the SVM and compare it with the result of the neural network. In addition, I suggest the origin of the dynamic heterogeneity in glassy liquid system. Furthermore, I demonstrate the composition of the local soft regions in glassy liquid systems.clos

Fade Lighting Control Method for Visual Comfort and Energy Saving

    Get PDF
This study proposes a fade lighting control method to ensure the visual comfort of indoor occupants through gradual illuminance control while saving energy. The illuminance sensor measures the indoor illuminance and calculates the required illuminance for achieving a reference illuminance of 500 Lux. The control illuminance for each lighting is derived based on the required illuminance, and it is confirmed to fall within the threshold range of 20%. The illuminance values and time intervals for fade lighting control are calculated, ensuring that the amount of illuminance adjustment is divided by the size of the threshold range or less. In the performance evaluation, the proposed method (experimental group) was compared with the influence-based control method (control group). The result shows that this fade lighting control method minimizes the visual discomfort of occupants caused by sudden changes in lighting, and the same energy-saving of 11-42% is achieved as the control group

H2 pressure swing adsorption for IGCC power plant and techno-economic analysis of integrating PSA to IGCC with carbon capture

    Get PDF
Carbon capture and sequestration technologies emerge as the effectual remediation processes to reduce CO2 emissions from coal power plants. Integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) is a representative technology for utilizing coal as feedstock and is consequently playing a more important role to cover the global energy demand. The IGCC produces H2-rich mixture at high pressures (30-35 bar) after capturing CO2. It is reported that the high purity H2 recovered from the IGCC process can be economically supplied to a hydrogen turbine or fuel cell. And a PSA process is a strong candidate to produce high purity H2 from the IGCC effluent gas. However, due to higher operating pressure than the present H2 PSA processes, reducing the operating costs and efficiency has emerged as one of the key issues. Effect of grain boundaries on ion migration in stabilized δ-Bi2O3 thin- film electrolyte

Solid electrolytes with high oxygen-ion conductivity are of significant interest for many applications. Over the past several decades, numerous studies have been conducted on the effect of grain boundaries on the process of increasing the ionic conductivity of solid electrolytes. Given that nanocrystalline thin- or thick-films have been investigated in relation to lowering the operating temperature of solid electrolytes to less than 650 °C, more rigorous and quantitative assessments are necessary to determine how the ion transport characteristics are affected by the numerous interfaces formed in nano-grains devices. Nucleotide sequence of the vmhA gene encoding hemolysin from Vibrio mimicus

    Get PDF
AbstractThe structural gene (vmhA) of hemolysin from Vibrio mimicus (ATCC33653) was cloned and sequenced. The vmhA gene contains an open reading frame consisting of 2232 nucleotides which can code for a protein of 744 amino acids with a predicted molecular mass of 83 059. The similarity of amino acid sequence shows 81.6% identity with Vibrio cholerae El Tor hemolysin

Pepper EST database: comprehensive in silico tool for analyzing the chili pepper (Capsicum annuum) transcriptome

    Get PDF
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>There is no dedicated database available for Expressed Sequence Tags (EST) of the chili pepper (<it>Capsicum annuum</it>), although the interest in a chili pepper EST database is increasing internationally due to the nutritional, economic, and pharmaceutical value of the plant. Recent advances in high-throughput sequencing of the ESTs of chili pepper cv. Bukang have produced hundreds of thousands of complementary DNA (cDNA) sequences. Therefore, a chili pepper EST database was designed and constructed to enable comprehensive analysis of chili pepper gene expression in response to biotic and abiotic stresses.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>We built the Pepper EST database to mine the complexity of chili pepper ESTs. The database was built on 122,582 sequenced ESTs and 116,412 refined ESTs from 21 pepper EST libraries. The ESTs were clustered and assembled into virtual consensus cDNAs and the cDNAs were assigned to metabolic pathway, Gene Ontology (GO), and MIPS Functional Catalogue (FunCat). The Pepper EST database is designed to provide a workbench for (i) identifying unigenes in pepper plants, (ii) analyzing expression patterns in different developmental tissues and under conditions of stress, and (iii) comparing the ESTs with those of other members of the <it>Solanaceae </it>family. The Pepper EST database is freely available at <url>http://genepool.kribb.re.kr/pepper/</url>.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The Pepper EST database is expected to provide a high-quality resource, which will contribute to gaining a systemic understanding of plant diseases and facilitate genetics-based population studies. The database is also expected to contribute to analysis of gene synteny as part of the chili pepper sequencing project by mapping ESTs to the genome.</p
